A few words about "Pediatric" Neutering & Spaying & Micro-chipping...

I have noticed a trend in various kennels offering puppies already spayed or neutered at as young as 8 weeks of age. I have had many questions & concerns as to the long-term problems associated with very young puppies undergoing what are commonly considered major surgical procedures... This seems to be quite a controversial subject, but from what I have been able to research, there are legitimate fears that puppies altered at too young an age, are not allowed to develop normally, either psychologically or physically, & that the hormonal changes brought about by doing these surgeries at too young an age, can cause more harm than good. We do require spaying & neutering of all puppies that come from Foxglove Farm, but ask that it not be done before 6 months of age, unless under extreme conditions and at the specific recommendation of your veterinarian... Additionally, there are rather alarming reports surfacing regarding the safety of micro-chipping animals. Some dogs are having reactions, infections and now there are concerns that the components of the chips are causing even more serious long-term problems. If you are thinking about having your new puppy micro-chipped, I would urge you to wait until more research is available, though a good thing in many respects, perhaps they are rather too new a technology to stay safe the lifetime of your pet.

Dear Puppy Lovers, I get so many lovely cards, letters, emails & pictures from people who have purchased our puppies over the years, I thought I'd take to time to add a few of them for your to enjoy, these arrived in my Inbox just a bit ago, and really made my evening, it's a cold Ohio night, with snow on the way and the thermometor dropping by the hour,,, but my heart was certainly warmed by the kindness of these friends!

Hi Terry,

I periodically look at your website to see photos of your latest puppies. Of course I never see one as cute as our Spencer, whom we adopted three years ago yesterday. We drove to your home from Cincinnati and when we got there he was the only puppy left from the litter. Of course my daughters fell in love with him at first sight and we took him home with us. I did all of the things I said I would NEVER do, I drove a long way and paid a lot of money for a dog! But I honestly have to say that he might be THE most special dog I've ever had in my life and I've had some great dogs! Spencer has just such a happy and laid back personality, particularly with his NEEDY, PUSHY, Poochon brother!

I want to tell you how much happiness one of your puppies has brought to our family. He is loved, pampered and spoiled rotten on a daily basis. I truly am so thankful that he became a member of our family. While driving to your home we thought there would be two boy puppies available, but when we arrived only one was left. I sometimes wonder that if there were two puppies left when we got there, would we have picked Spencer? So glad we didn't have to make that decision and that he was sitting there waiting for us when we arrived. I'll never forget how he looked at me out of the corner of his eye, which I thought that was a little odd, but I had nothing to say about the selection,my daughters were smitten from first glance! Now I get such a kick out of how he looks at me out of the corner of his eye. He is a hoot!!!

I just wanted to tell you how we feel about our Spencer. He truly is one of a kind. He's quite a mischief man, gets in to trouble in ways that I sometimes can't believe. Sugarless gum has been banned from our home because he loves it, but it's very harmful to dogs. He brings us a toy to play with EVERY time we walk in the door. He knows his SPOT in our bed when we climb in each night. We all love this dog like you can't believe. Every day he makes me smile, laugh or melt over one thing or another.

I only wish I could clone him and keep him around forever and I mean that from the bottom of my heart, that's how important he is to our me and my family. We adopted him only a few days after we had to put our sweet Maxie Boy to sleep and he has has filled our hearts with love. Just wanted you to know.

Dear Terry, we bought Buddy from you in June, 2007. Since the moment Buddy arrived at the airport, he has been the perfect dog for us. He was very easy to house train (but we were consistent and gave him much praise), loves people, so laid back and adjusts to whatever we are doing, groomers love him because he's so easy, lets my 9 yr old son do anything with him, loves playing with other dogs, etc etc etc. When we do have to board him, he gets extra care because they love him so much. He simply has all the wonderful traits of your Cavachon puppies! Thanks you so much for sending us this wonderful dog.

Just wanted to send you a few pictures of our Tea'. She loves the pool.... And as for her bed, well, shes a little spoiled and loves her bed as well. I never thought I'd say this but I may be thinking about getting Tea' a sister. Shes such a wonderful dog. Shes 11 lbs now and she still loves to go shopping..

She's the best companion ever. I have recommended you to many people. Every one who meets Tea' wants one too. Best behaved dog ever. And so easy to train.

Hello Terry,

Hope this email finds all of you warm, dry and healthy. Just wanted to update you on Pickles. She is doing excellent. She has the best tempermant. She loves to play and runs around like a little maniac outside. But the minute I pick her up she melts in my arms. She is practically sleeping through the night and hasn't had one accident yet (knock on wood)! She loves her crate and I bought her a portable doggy playpen to stick her in when we go to grandma's and to my work place. Everyone thinks she is so cute, especially my 7 year old niece. She can't seem to get enough of Pickles and calls me almost every night asking to see her again. The cats still don't know what to think of her, but she does very well with them and they are getting used to her. I know all of her wonderful habits are because you do such a wonderful job adapting them to this new world. Thank you so much for this beautiful puppy. I will certainly send you pictures soon.

Thought we'd share a few pictures of Benji in his new VA home! We love him to pieces!! He has been wonderful so far - no accidents and he is already learning his potty spot in the back yard. He has also learned how to "sit" today. We couldn't be happier with him! He did very well on the drive home last night - he had a long day but he was an angel!

Dear Terry, We stumbled upon your website and had to write you. We were so happy to see pictures of our dogs as puppies posted on the site! Starsky and Hutch celebrated their first birthday last month. They are the best dogs we could have ever wished for. Family and friends are constantly commenting on how loveable and well-behaved they are. They've developed such amazing personalities. Hutch (the smaller one) is such a water dog. He loves swimming in the nearby lakes and intimidating the ducks. Starsky thinks that he is human; he's vocal, loves sitting on his daddy's lap and is extremely intelligent. You were so wonderful to us, offering support before, during and after the purchasing process. We will be contacting you again when we're ready for more dogs. We wish you the best of luck.

We are so in love with our little guy. He loves everyone too! The neighbors, garbage man, lawn guys, shoppers at Petsmart! A male shopper told me that Bailey was ridiculously adorable! I thought you might want to see a few pictures of him that I will atttach. We have worn him out! His first day we took him to the beach and he was a little overwhelmed. He slept in Jeff’s jacket most of the time. He has gone grocery shopping, roller skating, and to downtown Charleston to Bubba Gump shrimp restaurant. I snuck him in my bag! He slept in my lap for some of the meal the slept in his bag. Anyway…….the children are crazy about him. He gets so excited to go to their school and see their classmates. The teachers go nuts over him! I could go on and on! Thank you so much for raising such an adorable pup. We adore him!

WE HAVE KEPT ANGEL'S NAME AS IS. SHE IS AN ABSOLUTE ANGEL! SHE CAME OUT OF HER CRATE ONCE SHE GOT HERE, WAGGING HER TAIL AND GIVING ME KISSES LIKE SHE KNEW SHE WAS FINALLY HOME! SHE IS RIGHT NEXT TO ME ON THE COUCH SOUND ASLEEP AS I WRITE THIS TO YOU.

DID YOU START HER POTTY TRAINING? BECAUSE SHE IS ALMOST 100% OUTDOOR POTTY TRAINED! WE CAN HARDLY BELIEVE IT! SHE IS SO SO SMART. SHE ALSO SITS ON COMAND AND FETCHES AND RETURNS HER TOYS. WE GOT HER A LITTLE TOY BEAR THAT SHE LOVES TO DEATH! SHE TAKES IT INTO HER CRATE FOR HER NAPS AND AT BEDTIME. SHE DOESNT LACK FOR TOYS, THATS FOR SURE! HER DADDY AND I MADE SURE OF THAT......

SHE HAD HER FIRST VET APPT ON WEDNESDAY. THEY ALL WENT GAGA OVER HER!!! SHE IS IN PERFECT HEALTH. THE VET (DR DARA BERRY) AND I DISCUSSED HER FOOD (WE WILL CONTINUE HER ROYAL CANNIN, VET LOVED THAT YOU RECOMMENDED IT, ITS WHAT SHE PREFERS TOO), ANGEL'S SPAYING (DR BERRY ALSO BELIEVES THAT WE WILL WAIT TILL ANGEL IS 6 MONTHS OLD)

ANGEL SPENDS HER DAY BEING A PUPPY! SHE WAKES UP AND GOES OUT FIRST THING IN THE MORNING (SHE MOSTLY SLEEPS ALL NIGHT, BUT IF SHE HEARS ME GET UP, SHE WANTS UP AND I TAKE HER OUT TO POTTY) THEN BACK IN HER KENNEL FOR THE REST OF THE NIGHTS SLEEP). THEN I FEED HER, MAKE MY COFFEE, WE GO OUTSIDE TO GET THE NEWSPAPER. SHE THEN INSISTS ON SITTING ON MY LAP WHILE I READ THE PAPER AND HAVE MY COFFEE!!!! SHE USUALLY FALLS ASLEEP FOR A BIT. SHE PLAYS ALOT AND WE LAUGH SO HARD AT HER ANTICS!!! SHE HAS THE BEST PERSONALITY! SHE IS A REAL CUDDLE BUG. SHE IS A VERY VERY HAPPY PUPPY!!!! AFTER LUNCH WE GO OUTSIDE TO PLAY IN THE YARD. SHE LOVES TO CHASE BUTTERFLIES! SOMETIMES WE BOTH TAKE AN AFTERNOON NAP OUTSIDE IN THE SUN, CURLED UP IN OUR CHAISE LOUNGE! SHE WATCHES ME MAKE DINNER AT NIGHT WHILE SHE PLAYS. AFTER HER DINNER SHE, YOU GUESSED IT, PLAYS THEN CUDDLES WITH US ON THE COUCH TILL SHE FALLS ASLEEP. WE PUT HER IN HER CRATE AND ITS OFF TO PUPPY DREAMLAND FOR HER!

YESTERDAY SHE TOOK A SHOPPING TRIP WITH ME TO JCPENNEY. I BOUGHT HER A NICE SOFT SIDED SHERPA AND SUEDE PINK CARRIER. SHE LAY QUIETLY IN IT WHILE I PUSHED HER AROUND IN A SHOPPING CART!

THANK YOU AGAIN TERRY FOR BRINGING LITTLE ANGEL INTO OUR LIVES. SHE IS AMAZING. WE ARENT RULING OUT ANOTHER CAVACHON PUPPY FROM YOU IN 6 MONTHS OR SO. WE THINK ANGEL WOULD LOVE A PLAYMATE!

Bailey is sooooooooooooooooo wonderful! I can't thank you enough. She really will bless my life with joy! I don't know how you did it, but you made a perfect dog. I already have some friends who might want to get a cavachon from you in the future. She is doing so great with her housebreaking. She has only had one little pee accident, other than that she has gone outside every time. She is incredibly smart, I will send you pictures!

Please don't be worried about shipping your puppy, not only do the airlines do a simply marvelous job with our babies, I am experienced & careful as well. Your puppy will often do much better traveling in his crate (which he loves to snuggle in already!), for a short airplane ride,,, (all air conditioned or heated as needed & in a safe puppy area), than riding long distances cross-country! Puppies travel in a crate full of fluffy white shreddies and a portion of their Baby Blankie to chew on during their journey!) We love to have people come if you are fairly close, but puppies honestly do wonderfully well flying, after all, they don't know it's an airplane, they travel happily in their "bed" to the vet's & what-not, my puppies arrive just fine & are happily running about moments after their arrival! Sometimes a long car trip across country is harder on a puppy (and his new owner too!) than allowing the puppy a quick trip via airplane!!!
